Mysuru’s famous Dasara celebrations have added another remarkable achievement, as a spectacular drone show featuring 3,473 drones forming a giant peacock has earned a Guinness World Records title. The display took place on October 18 at the Torchlight Parade Ground in Bannimantap, Mysuru, Karnataka.
3,473 Drones Create a Dancing Peacock
The highlight of the show was a giant peacock, India’s national bird, brought to life through thousands of synchronised drones carrying colourful lights. The formation appeared to move across the night sky, creating an eye-catching visual spectacle for spectators.
The achievement set a record for the largest aerial display of a bird formed by multirotor drones.
Who Organised the Record-Breaking Show?
The event was organised by Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited (CESC), while BotLab Dynamics, an IIT Delhi-incubated company, handled the drone display. The company has been part of Mysuru Dasara’s drone shows since 2022, making this its fifth consecutive year at the festival.
More Than Just a Peacock
The show also featured other striking aerial formations, including a butterfly, a lion, a soldier holding the Tricolour and religious and cultural symbols. The displays combined modern drone technology with themes associated with Indian culture and Karnataka’s heritage.
Technology Meets Tradition at Mysuru Dasara
Known for its royal procession, illuminated landmarks and cultural performances, Mysuru Dasara continues to introduce new attractions for visitors. The record-setting peacock formation demonstrated how coordinated drone technology can add a modern dimension to traditional celebrations.
The achievement has also drawn attention to the technical planning and precision required to coordinate thousands of drones in the sky.
