The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast moderate to heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in several parts of the state over the weekend and into early next week.
According to the latest IMD updates, a low-pressure area over the northwest and west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Odisha–north Andhra Pradesh coasts is the primary driver of the current weather pattern. The system is expected to bring enhanced rainfall activity to Telangana, with the impact likely peaking on September 12 and 13, 2026.
Northern and eastern districts (including Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem and adjoining areas) are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall. Some locations could record 50–70 mm of rain, along with thunderstorms and gusty winds.
Central and other parts of the state, including areas around Warangal, Karimnagar, Medak and Rangareddy, may see scattered light to moderate rain and thunderstorms.
Hyderabad and surrounding regions are expected to remain mostly cloudy, with light to moderate thundershowers possible, particularly in the afternoon and evening hours on September 12 and 13.
Rainfall activity is forecast to continue in a scattered to widespread manner until around September 14, after which intensity is likely to decrease between September 15 and 17.
Temperatures in Hyderabad are expected to stay moderate, with maximums around 30–32°C and minimums near 23–24°C under cloudy conditions.
