Maya was developed by Tuesday Labs and students from Masters’ Union, using the Unitree G1 humanoid robot platform. The project brings together robotics, artificial intelligence and creative performance in an unusual way.

Maya’s movements were based on motion-capture recordings of a real dancer. Those movements were then programmed and refined using reinforcement learning to help the robot maintain balance and reproduce the choreography.
