West Indies defeated India by 24 runs in the fourth T20 International at Hyderabad on October 14, 2026, levelling the five-match series at 2-2. Captain Shai Hope delivered a spectacular century before pacer Keemo Paul claimed five wickets to derail India’s chase

1. Shai Hope Leads West Indies to a Big Total

Batting first at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, West Indies posted an imposing 247/3 in 20 overs. Hope remained unbeaten on 102 off 50 deliveries, striking nine sixes and four boundaries.

Sherfane Rutherford provided an explosive finish with an unbeaten 49 off 26 balls, helping the visitors maintain their scoring momentum through the closing overs.

2. India’s Bowlers Struggle to Contain the Batters

West Indies attacked India’s bowling throughout the innings, scoring freely and finding the boundary regularly. Shimron Hetmyer contributed 33 off just 12 balls, while Rovman Powell added 24.

India’s bowlers struggled to control the scoring rate, leaving the hosts with a challenging target of 248 runs to win.

3. Sanju Samson Provides a Flying Start

India began the chase aggressively, with Sanju Samson smashing 56 off just 23 balls. His innings included six fours and four sixes, giving the hosts early hope of reaching the demanding target.

However, Keemo Paul dismissed Samson and Ishan Kishan in the fifth over, shifting the momentum towards West Indies. Shreyas Iyer also fell after making 16, leaving India under pressure.

4. Tilak Varma and Nitish Reddy Keep India in the Contest

With wickets falling at regular intervals, Tilak Varma and Nitish Kumar Reddy attempted to revive India’s chase. The pair added 70 runs, keeping the required run rate within reach for a period.

Tilak scored 43 off 25 balls, while Reddy contributed 41 off 20 deliveries. Their dismissals, however, left India struggling to sustain the required scoring pace.

5. Keemo Paul’s Five-Wicket Haul Seals the Win

Keemo Paul emerged as the decisive performer with the ball, finishing with figures of 5/41 in four overs. His crucial breakthroughs dismantled India’s middle and lower order, preventing the hosts from completing the chase.

India were eventually bowled out for 223 in 19.3 overs, falling 24 runs short of the target. Hope was named Player of the Match for his unbeaten century.

6. Series Heads for a Decider in Bengaluru

The victory levelled the five-match T20I series at 2-2, setting up a decisive final encounter between the teams.

India will look to improve their bowling execution and maintain their batting momentum, while West Indies will aim to carry forward the confidence gained from their Hyderabad performance. The fifth T20 is scheduled for October 17 in Bengaluru
