Valentino brought a dramatic mix of colour, corsets and statement jewellery to Paris Fashion Week, unveiling its Spring/Summer 2027 collection inside the historic Bibliothèque Sainte-Geneviève.
Creative director Alessandro Michele presented the collection under the title “Antibiblioteca”, turning the 19th-century library into an unexpected backdrop for Valentino’s latest designs.
Corsets Take Centre Stage
Bright silk corset tops were among the collection’s standout pieces. Models walked through the library wearing tightly fitted designs in vivid blue, yellow and hot pink, often paired with contrasting skirts.
Strapless dresses also featured prominently, reinforcing the collection’s theatrical and expressive mood.
Lace, Feathers and Statement Details
Michele combined delicate lace with more extravagant finishing touches. Lace skirts and shirts featured ostrich-feather trims, while accessories added another layer of maximalism.
The collection ended with a striking floor-length Valentino red dress finished with an oversized black bow.
Chunky Jewellery Makes a Statement
Jewellery was deliberately bold, with oversized baroque-style gold necklaces and large pearl earrings becoming major elements of several looks.
The accessories extended to bags as well, with models carrying cross-body styles and rectangular clutches decorated with studs and sequins.
Men’s Fashion Gets the Maximalist Treatment
The collection also featured expressive menswear. Models appeared in partly unbuttoned double-breasted jackets, sequinned shirts, tinted sunglasses and colourful baseball caps.
The looks reflected Michele’s signature preference for mixing traditional tailoring with playful and unconventional details.
A Fashion Show Inside a Historic Library
The setting was almost as notable as the clothing. Guests including Alexander Skarsgard, Cynthia Erivo and stylist Law Roach attended the show, with many arriving carrying books for photographers.
The contrast between the grand library interiors and Valentino’s colourful, theatrical clothing gave the presentation a distinctly dramatic character.
Valentino’s New Fashion Direction
Michele has led Valentino since 2024 after spending eight years as Gucci’s creative director. His latest collection continues to emphasise maximalism, colour and elaborate styling while the Italian luxury house works to strengthen its commercial performance.
