The much-awaited Telugu period action drama Ranabaali, starring real-life couple Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, continues to generate strong anticipation ahead of its theatrical release.
Directed by Rahul Sankrityan (Taxiwaala, Shyam Singha Roy), the film was initially scheduled for a worldwide release on September 11, 2026. However, the makers later postponed it to October 16, 2026, aligning it with the festive Dussehra period.
Ranabaali is set against the backdrop of the late 19th century (around the 1876–1878 Madras Famine) in the Rayalaseema region. Vijay Deverakonda plays Singanamala Bobbili Ranabaali, a fierce rebel warrior who rises against British forces. Rashmika Mandanna portrays his wife Jayamma. Hollywood actor Arnold Vosloo (The Mummy) plays the antagonist, Sir Theodore Hector.
Produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar under Mythri Movie Makers (presented in association with T-Series), the film is described by the makers as a cinematic reconstruction of historical events drawn from oral histories and records, rather than a straightforward biopic.
This marks the third on-screen collaboration between Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna after the successful Geetha Govindam (2018) and Dear Comrade (2019). It is also their first film together since their marriage earlier this year.
Music is composed by Ajay-Atul, with cinematography by Nirav Shah. A teaser released recently has showcased Deverakonda in a completely transformed, intense avatar, further heightening excitement among fans.
As the new October 16 release date approaches, audiences can expect a grand period action spectacle blending history, emotion, and high-octane sequences.
