Malayalam superstar Mammootty drew a massive crowd at Expo Centre Sharjah on Saturday for the star-studded event ‘Rajakeeyam – Celebrate with Legends’. The colourful show celebrated his remarkable five-decade journey in Indian cinema.
Fans from the large Malayali community in the UAE turned out in large numbers to cheer the 75-year-old actor, who was recently honoured with the Padma Bhushan. Mammootty has acted in over 400 films and is a four-time National Film Award winner.
The event also highlighted his upcoming film Padayatra, directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan. This marks their first collaboration in 32 years after the acclaimed Vidheyan. The trailer for Padayatra has been released, generating strong interest among fans. In the film, Mammootty plays a doctor facing serious allegations.
Actors Siddique, Remya Nambeesan and Anu Sithara, along with musicians including Stephen Devassy, performed at the event, adding to the festive atmosphere.
The Sharjah celebration once again showed Mammootty’s enduring popularity across generations.
