Apple has officially entered the foldable smartphone market with the launch of the iPhone Duo, the company’s first-ever folding iPhone. Unveiled on September 9, 2026, during Apple’s “Surprise and Shine” event, the device marks the biggest design change to the iPhone since its original launch in 2007.
The iPhone Duo uses a book-style design. When closed, it features a 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR outer display. When opened, it reveals a large 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR inner display — the largest screen ever on an iPhone. Both displays support ProMotion (up to 120Hz), Always-On, and peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits. Apple has used a special nano-texture finish on the inner display to reduce crease visibility and glare.
