Rahul Gandhi to Launch Punjab Congress Campaign in Sangrur on November 4

Sangrur to Host Campaign Launch

Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to launch the Congress campaign for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections in Sangrur on November 4. Punjab Congress president Pargat Singh announced the visit as the party begins preparations under its ‘Mission 2027’ banner.

Malwa Region a Key Focus

Malwa has 69 of Punjab’s 117 Assembly constituencies and is central to the party’s campaign planning. Sangrur is also the home district of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The Aam Aadmi Party won all five Assembly seats in the district in the 2022 election.

Public Issues Expected to Feature

Congress leaders expect to raise drug abuse, law and order, farmers’ concerns, public safety and youth employment. The party has also discussed the possibility of Gandhi meeting the family of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh, known as Jhota, who was killed in Mansa earlier in October.

Senior Leaders Prepare Outreach

Congress general secretary K. C. Venugopal has met state leaders to coordinate preparations. Pargat Singh, Partap Singh Bajwa, Raja Warring and Sachin Pilot are among those involved. The Punjab unit is also planning cycle yatras across Malwa, Majha and Doaba to discuss local concerns.
