Tigmanshu Dhulia’s long-awaited crime drama Ghamasaan has arrived on OTT, premiering exclusively on ZEE5 from September 11, 2026.
The film stars Arshad Warsi in a striking against-type role as Maharaj, a feared dacoit who rules the ravines of Bundelkhand with an iron fist, and Pratik Gandhi as Aditya, a determined IPS officer leading a Special Task Force to bring him down. Set against the rugged terrain of the Hindi heartland (primarily Bundelkhand region, circa 2006), the story explores a high-stakes cat-and-mouse chase intertwined with power, politics, corruption, and survival.
Directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia (known for Paan Singh Tomar, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster), Ghamasaan was completed around 2024 and screened at festivals including the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, Cinevesture International Film Festival, and Chicago South Asian Film Festival before its digital premiere. It also features Ishita Dutta and Rajpal Yadav in pivotal supporting roles.
The narrative follows Maharaj, whose influence extends deep into the police and political systems, and Aditya’s relentless pursuit into the outlaw’s territory. Reviews highlight strong performances — particularly Warsi’s menacing turn as the dacoit and Gandhi’s focused portrayal of the lawman — along with authentic location shooting and Dhulia’s signature gritty style, though some note pacing issues or a relatively straightforward good-versus-evil structure.
