The Congress has finalised its candidates for two upcoming Graduate MLC constituencies in Telangana, setting the stage for the next phase of preparations for the Legislative Council elections.
The party has named Sama Rammohan Reddy for the Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad Graduates’ Constituency and Ramreddy Sarvotham Reddy for the Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal Graduates’ Constituency. The nominations were approved by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, according to the party announcement.
Congress Announces Two Candidates
Sama Rammohan Reddy has been selected for the Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad seat. He has been associated with the Telangana Congress organisation and has held responsibilities related to the party’s media and communications activities.
Ramreddy Sarvotham Reddy will contest from the Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal Graduates’ Constituency. He is the son of former Congress minister and senior leader Ramreddy Damodar Reddy.
Elections Expected in 2027
The two Graduate MLC seats are due to become vacant in March 2027, when the terms of the sitting members end. Preparations for the electoral process have already begun, with voter enrolment for the two constituencies starting in September. The final electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on December 30, 2026.
Focus on Graduate Constituencies
Graduate MLC elections are conducted through electorates made up of eligible graduates registered in the respective constituencies. The two constituencies cover large parts of Telangana and include major urban and regional centres.
With Congress announcing its nominees well ahead of the elections, attention is now expected to turn toward candidate announcements from other political parties and the completion of the voter registration process.
The upcoming contest will also bring greater focus to issues relevant to graduate voters, including employment, education, public services and opportunities for young professionals.
