The tragic collapse of a five-storey PG accommodation in Delhi’s Satya Niketan has left several families devastated. Among those who lost their lives was young student Arpit Jaj/Jai, who had returned to Delhi after spending the Rakshabandhan holidays with his family in Madhya Pradesh.
Amid the heartbreaking loss, Arpit’s family made a deeply compassionate decision — they donated his corneas. Their decision could help restore the gift of sight to others, turning an unimaginable moment of grief into an act of generosity and hope.

Arpit was a second-year student at Delhi University’s Atma Ram Sanatan Dharam College. Reports said he had reached Delhi on Sunday morning, only hours before the building collapsed. The incident ultimately claimed seven lives, while rescue teams worked through the debris.
The family’s decision to donate his corneas has touched many people because, even in their darkest moment, they chose to give someone else a chance to see the world.
One life was lost, but through organ donation, a part of Arpit’s legacy may continue to bring hope to others.
