Speculation surrounding Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s appearance in Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has prompted a clarification from the film’s action director, Chethan D’Souza. The discussion began after reports emerged that a body double had been used for some portions featuring Mohanlal in the action thriller.
Chethan has now confirmed that Mohanlal himself appeared in the film’s climactic car sequence, while the stand-in has separately explained his limited involvement in the production.
Action Director Clarifies the Climax Scene
The controversy gained attention after viewers questioned Mohanlal’s screen time and speculated about whether he personally performed the climax car sequence.
Responding to a fan’s question on social media, Chethan D’Souza confirmed that Mohanlal himself appeared in the scene. His response addressed the specific car sequence, although it did not resolve questions about every shot featuring the actor.
Body Double Explains His Role
Joby Kodakara, who reportedly worked as Mohanlal’s stand-in, also addressed the discussion. He said that only his hands and legs were used in a small number of shots and that his face did not appear in the film.
According to his clarification, these shots involved close-up actions such as changing a car’s gear and pressing the accelerator. His statement helped explain how a stand-in could be involved in the production without replacing Mohanlal in the full sequence.
Mohanlal’s Screen Time Sparks Debate
The body double discussion emerged amid questions from fans about Mohanlal’s limited screen time in the sequel. His stylist and costume designer, Jishad Shamsudeen, had also expressed disappointment, claiming that three looks prepared for the actor were left out of the final cut.
The reports have fuelled debate among fans about how the actor’s role was edited. However, the available clarifications about the car scene do not establish why particular scenes or looks were omitted.
Jailer 2 Continues to Draw Attention
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 features Rajinikanth alongside a cast of prominent actors, including Mohanlal. The latest discussion highlights how brief appearances by major stars can become a talking point among audiences.
For now, the action director’s statement confirms Mohanlal’s appearance in the climactic car scene, while Joby Kodakara’s explanation offers further context about his work as a stand-in. Questions about the actor’s overall screen time remain separate from the body double clarification.
