Google has introduced the Fitbit Edge, a new fitness tracker that combines a slim design with smartwatch-style features. The wearable is positioned between the screenless Fitbit Air and the Pixel Watch, offering users a display, built-in GPS and advanced health monitoring tools.
Fitbit Edge Price and Availability
The Fitbit Edge starts at $179.99 (approximately ₹17,200) in the US. Google has also announced a Stephen Curry Special Edition priced at $219.99. Pre-orders are open through the Google Store and authorised retail partners, with general sales scheduled to begin on October 27, 2026.
Google has not confirmed Indian pricing or availability in the launch details.
AMOLED Display and Design
The tracker features a 1.34-inch AMOLED display with an always-on mode. Google says the screen provides 46% more viewing area than previous-generation Fitbit trackers. A physical side button allows users to control functions such as pausing or resuming workouts.
The device comes in multiple finishes, with interchangeable band options available.
Fitness Tracking and Built-In GPS
The Fitbit Edge includes built-in GPS and Galileo satellite positioning, allowing users to record outdoor routes without carrying a connected phone. It supports more than 40 sport modes and can automatically recognise certain activities.
Other fitness tools include heart-rate tracking, VO2 Max estimates, Cardio Load, Daily Readiness and Active Zone Minutes.
Health Monitoring Features
The wearable includes an ECG sensor, blood oxygen monitoring, skin-temperature tracking and heart-rate variability measurements. It also supports sleep-stage analysis and irregular heart-rhythm notifications.
Google says its on-wrist ECG feature can help users check for signs associated with atrial fibrillation. These features are intended for wellness monitoring and should not replace professional medical advice.
AI Health Coach and Smart Features
The Fitbit Edge works with Google’s health and fitness ecosystem, including its personalised Health Coach experience powered by Gemini. Some coaching tools require a Google Health Premium subscription.
Users can also view smartphone notifications, send quick replies on compatible platforms, control media playback, set alarms and timers, and access basic Google Maps guidance.
Battery Life and Water Resistance
Google claims the tracker can last up to seven days on a single charge. Its battery is replaceable, while the device supports 5 ATM water resistance and carries an IP68 rating for water and dust protection.
With its display, GPS and health features, the Fitbit Edge aims to offer a middle ground between a basic fitness band and a full smartwatch.
