Hyderabad Water Supply Disruption for 36 Hours on October 5–6: Check Affected Areas

HMWSSB workers carrying out pipeline repair works causing 36-hour water supply disruption in parts of Hyderabad on October 5-6

Hyderabad, October 5, 2026 – Drinking water supply is expected to be disrupted in several parts of Hyderabad for approximately 36 hours starting today due to planned maintenance works. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has scheduled the shutdown from 6:00 am on October 5 to 6:00 pm on October 6.

Reason for the Disruption

The works involve repair and replacement on the 2,375-mm diameter Mild Steel (MS) pumping main between Nasarlapally and Godakondla under the Krishna Drinking Water Supply Project (KDWSP) Phase-II. Officials will replace damaged MS air tees and valves and repair a leak in the scour pipeline

During this period, some localities may experience a complete or partial interruption of water supply, while others may receive water at low pressure.

Areas Likely to Be Affected

Southern and Eastern areas:

Adibatla, Kammaguda, Gurramguda, BN Reddy Nagar, Vanasthalipuram, Autonagar, Alkapuri, Beerappagadda, Habsiguda, Ramanthapur, Venkat Reddy Nagar, Uppal, Nacharam, HMT Nagar, Tarnaka, and Buddha Nagar.

Other affected areas:

Vaishali Nagar, Meerpet, Badangpet, ARCI, Balapur, Maisaram, Barkas, NPA, Shamshabad, Madhuban, and Prashasan Nagar (partial).

Advisory for Residents

HMWSSB has advised residents in the affected areas to store sufficient water in advance and use it judiciously during the 36-hour maintenance window. Water supply is expected to be restored gradually after the completion of works on the evening of October 6.
